A very erudite scholar
He was an exceptional student, excellent in the sciences. An outstanding scholar, he graduated from the Medical College of the University of Nigeria and was the star of his class.

A disciplined comrade
He was the labour captain of our set. He loved order and was a stickler for discipline. Very impatient with nonsense, but with a great sense of humour.
My friend Victor was an officer and gentleman. He may have retired into teaching because he loved to teach struggling students Mathematics and Physics.

Death has no humour
He always had a mischievous smile, and nice lines in Igbo language for his many satires. He had the ability to crack a rib tearing joke, and just remain expressionless.

In a country where the military may deny you honour, I pay you this tribute. Gallant!
Adieu my friend, Dr. Ulasi Victor."
Like captain Ulasi, many gallant, brilliant and vibrant Nigerian soldiers have lost their lives in the course of this war against Boko Haram, and many fear that when at last this battle is over, Nigeria would have lost more than the victory won.
